Hi HN! I scraped 8,000 NDE/OBE accounts, analyzed them with AI, and built three ways to explore them:
1. *Search by meaning* — "floating above my body" finds similar accounts even
with different words
2. *3D Map* — Experiences clustered by semantic similarity (UMAP on embeddings)
3. *Listen* — AI voices + ambient soundscapes. Surprisingly immersive.
The audio was the most fun to build. ElevenLabs narration layered with ethereal
ambient pads — you can listen to these accounts like a podcast.
Not making metaphysical claims — just making 20 years of scattered NDE research
data actually explorable.

This is fascinating work. Right now it’s mostly focused on near-death experiences, but I’d love to see it grow into a broader map of spirituality, consciousness studies, and related fields. The visual approach has a lot of potential once more domains are added.
