I've worked as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for over 12 years across startups, midsize, and FAANG companies with a focus on automating tests and processes which are often repetitively mundane or large time sinks. This ranges from writing said automated tests for web and mobile devices to the frameworks that run them and to managing a team of people that take care of these tasks.
I enjoy the time saving nature of automation and have a genuine interest in maintaining a high degree of product quality. While my work has been SDET related up until now, I am open to developer roles as well since there is a high degree of overlap.
If you would like to get to know more about my experience work wise or personal projects feel free to send me an email.
I'm a full stack/generalist looking for the next step on the ladder. On paper I've been a "Senior Software Engineer" for too many years. In practice I've been a micro-team technical lead and worked at a "Staff" level, just never got the title bump on paper. In graduate school I attempted a solo founder thing and they say that startup itch never entirely leaves you and there is a small part of me wondering if it is time to seek the right Technical Cofounder opportunity.
24+ years of experience and a hands on builder, generalist. I like to pitch tent and dig deep into the problem. I am versatile enough to solve problems across tiers. I am looking for part time work as I continue pushing my startup forward.
I build and ship production GenAI systems in pharma (R&D + TechOps), leading a team of 4. My work spans data pipelines, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure to deliver production-ready AI applications.
Recent work:
Report generation framework (unstructured + structured data → compliant reports)
Processes PDFs, documents, and structured datasets to generate consistent, audit-ready reports
GxP-compliant intelligent QMS collaborator (~40% faster QA workflows)
Most of my work is in regulated environments, so I focus on traceability, observability, and building reliable AI systems.
Looking for-
Roles: AI Engineer / ML Engineer / Data Scientist

Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer with experience building production-grade Generative AI systems, multi-agent architectures, and real-time intelligent applications. Skilled in LLM orchestration, RAG systems, vector databases, and cloud AI platforms.
Strong background in full-stack development using React, Next.js, Python, and FastAPI, with hands-on experience designing scalable backend systems, voice AI assistants, and distributed asynchronous architectures.
Focused on delivering end-to-end AI solutions that combine modern interfaces with robust, production-ready AI infrastructure.
I'm graduating in a month, so I'm seeking junior/graduate-level roles that revolve around backend and systems development where I can learn a lot. My experience includes four internships and multiple side projects (please check my resume and GitHub).
I started programming on my own at the age of 15. Since then, I have explored multiple areas, including mobile app development (native and Flutter), web development (React, Next.js, Vue), QA, MLOps, and AI/ML. During this exploration phase, I realized that I want to focus my career on backend development.
Most of my coding experience is in Java and Python. I also really enjoy Kotlin and am currently learning Go (Golang) by building a simple VPN as a side project. However, I am not limited only to these languages.
Hi, i'm Samir. I'm a junior software engineer with a B.Sc. in Mathematics & Computer Science (Data Science). I recently completed a contract at an AI startup where I built data-intensive React UIs. I also developed REST API endpoints, implemented full authentication flow with WorkOS, automated end-to-end type safety between FastAPI backend and react frontend and added CI/CD pipelines on GitHub Actions. I've also worked on some side projects like a Job Tracker SaaS and a Legal AI RAG assistant. Looking for my next full-time opportunity in backend, full-stack, or AI-adjacent roles.

After building and selling a couple of companies, now I'm a quasi-retired "technologist" I guess. I like to build. The benefit is that I'm compensation-flexible and offer a straightforward style. Lately, I've been splitting my time building native apps and working on LLMs, but I'm very also comfortable in the middle of the stack and at the systems level. Somehow I wind up doing a lot of custom USB and BT work.
No drama. I don't want to run your company or lord over a tribe. The best fit is a situation where you need something done, you set the direction and constraints, then I bring you options to get it done and deliver it.
I help startups with the UX/UI and web design of their products. This includes web apps, websites, landing pages, copywriting, and I can assist with frontend development where needed. My background of launching my own products and being a full stack developer helps me create practical designs that balance usability, aesthetics, development effort, and performance. I work to fixed price quotes for self-contained projects.

The best live example of my work is Checkbot (https://checkbot.io/), a browser extension that tests websites for SEO/speed/security problems. The entire project is my own work including coding the extension itself, UX/UI design, website design (the homepage is optimised to load in 0.7 seconds, 0.3MB data transferred), marketing, website copy, and website articles on web best practices.

20+ years of experience. I'm a generalist who does a bit of everything which makes it difficult to decide what to list here. I love to work on things like developer experience (local dev environments, tools, CI/CD pipelines), upgrading/refactoring/rebuilding legacy applications, documentation, improving processes, and anything that lets me learn something new.
I'm mostly looking for side work, but may be open to full-time if it seems like an exceptional fit.
If there's anything your current team has been meaning to tackle, but hasn't had the time, feel free to reach out. I can work very autonomously with almost no onboarding.
Just about done finishing up a CS master's degree, and looking for opportunities starting in the late summer or fall. My background is in programming language theory (particularly logic/relational programming), so would be very happy to work with functional languages, compilers, automated reasoning, and/or formal verification. I also have a background in music (I'm a published composer!) so particularly interested in audio/music-related stuff as well. Open both to software enginering roles and research positions (anyone looking for new PhD/doctoral students?) I've also done full-stack work across databases/cloud infrastructure/web APIs/frontends, and independently released a commercial music production plugin (Pivotuner, more info on my website).
Technologies: Python, HTML, CSS, Some Crystal/Ruby, GitHub Actions and SourceHut builds, Liquid, Django, Jinja and so on, N8n. Getting more into AI/LLM.
I started working with AI back in 2014 and consider myself one of the early vibe coders. I’m interested in everything related to AI and security, I’ve worked on benchmarks, optimizations, training and inference, tinygrad, H100, B200, DeepSeek etc. I also developed an ultra-fast programming language for executing complex GPU workloads and created a generative OS for it.
Under 25, I created the core of a security scanner and built a hacking team at a UK startup ($7M investment). We removed the GIL from Python to run 30,000 threads and scan 18,000 exchange IPs for malware overnight.
I have many achievements, I created a Top-10 music app on the App Store and an Instagram filter editor for a social network that had 28,000 users at launch.
I worked on a top-30 cryptocurrency in AI and built a better version of BitChat.
I'm an experienced developer, visionary and researcher. Reach out to me and I will strengthen your team with my experience and knowledge.

Hi, I am Harsh. I work on open source projects at Epicenter (YCs25) and part-time as a community support engineer at Cognee. I specialize in frontend development and building practical developer tools.
I've worked at startups before, so I'm used to switching between roles and responsibilities.
I build MVPs that make it to production, and I stabilize/modernize legacy systems without breaking what works. Comfortable across backend, frontend, and infra.
Strong on integrations and data flows: Zapier apps (Platform/CLI), ERPs, billing, CRMs, webhooks, ETL. I've spent a lot of time making systems talk to each other reliably.
Years of experience in SaaS companies.
Ex-integrations @ Zapier / Tesorio. Former CTO/founder.
Hi, I'm Jonathan. I’m currently doing DevOps work for an open source project, operate a small web hosting company, and working as an accounting assistant for a local firm. My skillset is focused on the System Administration/DevOps side, with a bit of general dev experience primarily with Python. I have a PhD in Physics with my research focus being computational biophysics. On the side I also host my own infrastructure as a hobby, from the hardware to the nameservers and everything in between.
Having worked at startups before, I’m comfortable wearing many hats (and enjoy the variety).
Backend engineer with 12+ years building distributed systems at IBM and early-stage startups.
At IBM, I worked on Kubernetes-based ingestion pipelines, developer tooling, and integrations for both SaaS and on-premise platforms. Before that, I was a founding engineer on an airline ticketing platform, acquired by a major airline.
Open to backend, platform, or developer-tooling roles.
Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work, but I am open to work on any interesting project. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I value good teamwork over fancy tech, and I don't shy away from working on legacy code. I am primarily motivated by solving problems, so let me help you solve your problems.
I am open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.
While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
In addition, I want to use some of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. I also sponsor children that otherwise can't afford to go to school (see my website). If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.
Software engineer with 30+ years building production-ready business applications and 3+ years as a core database engineer building high-performance RDBMs.
Founder and principal engineer of small ISV with a long track record of owning complex systems end-to-end, from low-level design to production reliability.
Driven to learn new domains quickly and choose the simplest effective architecture, tools and paradigms for each problem.
I solo-engineered Lustra.news because legislative data is an unmitigated mess. It's now a production-grade infrastructure managing 300k+ indexed pages with 99%+ hallucination-free AI summaries.

Built multiple teams from scratch and created several successful products. Most recently led a core backend team that handled millions of requests per hour and enabled 20+ engineering teams to ship faster. Engineering background in CDN architecture, low-level network protocols, and on-the-wire cryptocurrency protocols. Currently active in AI: reduced support resolution from 24 hours to 1 hour.
I've mostly been a first or founding engineer, owning systems that have to scale early. I focus on high-throughput pipelines, messaging systems, media transcoding, and recommendations—areas where issues show up under load, retries, and edge cases.
I also build real-time dashboards to observe and control these systems, using local-first approaches and browser-based technologies for media processing and realtime communication.
- Messaging systems delivering millions of emails and push notifications in minutes (retries, deliverability, observability)
- Browser-based video editing and encoding platform using FFmpeg, Supabase, and AWS
- Real-time pipelines and recommendation systems for tens of millions of users
- Scaled event ingestion ~100x for analytics and experimentation
I do my best work in small, product-focused teams, owning systems end-to-end, staying close to production, and communicating early around risks and tradeoffs.
- Founding or early engineering roles (full-time, part-time, or contract)
- Backend or infrastructure-heavy work
- Products with real users or a clear path to them
Senior software engineer with 5+ years of experience building large-scale
distributed systems, CDN/edge infrastructure, and developer-facing platforms.
Currently at Disney working on the DTC media platform powering ESPN, Disney+,
and Hulu - designing intent-based CDN policy controls (with Z3 formal
verification), optimizing multi-CDN traffic mix, and integrating with Akamai,
Fastly, and CloudFront for live events. Previously a founding engineer at a
YC-backed messaging startup (Texts) and ran my own infrastructure-heavy SaaS
for several years. Comfortable across the stack but happiest deep in
backend/infra work - distributed systems, networking, performance, and tooling
that makes other engineers faster. Currently pursuing an M.S. in CS at
Georgia Tech (Computing Systems, 4.0).
Lead iOS developer for multiple award-winning apps, featured by Apple, The New York Times and Forbes. Working remotely for distributed companies for the last 12 years.
I'm Govind, a Senior Software Engineer with 15 years of experience building production systems across full-stack web, blockchain, and AI.
What I bring to the table:
→ Full-stack development: React + Node.js apps from MVP to scale. Have built and shipped products for US enterprise clients including ADP and Time Warner Cable.
→ Blockchain/Web3: Production Ethereum smart contracts, DeFi integrations, and Solidity development, not just hackathon projects.
→ AI-enabled systems: Integrating LLMs into existing products, RAG pipelines, AI agents, workflow automation. I use AI tools daily in my own development workflow.
→ Fractional CTO / Technical consulting: Architecture reviews, tech stack decisions, and hands-on leadership for startups that need senior engineering guidance without a full-time hire.
Open to: project-based contracts, fractional CTO engagements, part-time ongoing work, and consulting. Strong preference for async-first teams. Competitive rates for the quality of work delivered.

Research Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience building distributed and real-time systems in unreliable and constrained environments.
Background in networking, including custom transport protocols, network monitoring, and adaptive systems. Recent work includes AI-assisted software engineering and intelligent systems.
Experience designing and building systems that need to remain reliable under failure, including tactical and edge environments.
Interested in backend, infrastructure, distributed systems, or AI-driven systems roles where I can build and improve core technology.
Senior backend and infrastructure engineer, available for part-time contract work (8–16 hours/week) alongside an existing engagement.
I currently own the full backend and infrastructure layer for a EU company: Python APIs (Flask/FastAPI), PostgreSQL and Redis, AWS infrastructure managed with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes workloads. I've performed cloud migrations between AWS, Azure, and DigitalOcean, and taken ownership of legacy systems that nobody else wanted to touch. Happy to be the person your team pings when something is broken and nobody knows why.

SEEKING FREELANCE/CONTRACT WORK — I build production software for founders and growing teams. Full-stack engineering across Rails, Vue, and React, with AI-augmented workflows. 25 years of shipping, leading teams, and owning technical direction.
I spent a decade as CTO at EMEX, growing the engineering team from scratch through private equity acquisition. Today I operate through Brightform Technology, working with founders who need senior-level engineering without a full-time hire. The kind of problems where product sense and architectural judgment matter as much as code output.
Past work:
* Led all frontend architecture for an IoT platform processing high-volume sensor data across nationwide deployments. Built real-time building floorplan visualization, time-series HVAC dashboards, and a modular device configuration system.
* First engineering hire → CTO at EMEX. Built the flagship real-time reverse auction platform that drove seven-figure annual sales. Grew and led a team of 6 through acquisition.
Best fit: founders with a clear idea and the budget to move fast. You might have Figma mockups, a vibe-coded prototype, or just a well-defined concept. I bring product direction alongside the engineering.

Hi, I'm Harry Altman! I was the maintainer of Truffle Debugger (https://github.com/ConsenSys-archive/truffle/tree/develop/pa...), a Solidity smart contract debugger, for 5 years. I eventually ended up writing my own decoding and encoding libraries to support it, as well as a bunch of other things.
I'm good at this sort of nitpicky work, spotting and thinking about edge cases. I like getting things exactly right, even though that obviously isn't always possible due to various constraints. I've been kind of wondering if I should get into embedded development; I find it appealing when things are low-level or similarly constrained. I've beaten Microcorruption. :) (The original levels, I haven't played the new ones.)
I'm also quite interested in unusual or obscure data formats, and working on Truffle Debugger and its associated libraries certainly involved a bunch of having to figure undocumented formats and interfaces. :) I put down above what languages I've worked substantially in but I'd say I'm a generalist and will figure out whatever you give me (I knew approximately no Javascript, Typescript, or Solidity when I started working at Consensys).
I'm a mathematician by background and in my spare time, so after the Truffle Debugger project was shut down I took some time off to focus on my mathematical projects, including old ones I've been shepherding through publication. But now I'm looking for work again! If you need someone like me, I'm available for hire!

AI Systems Architect with 20+ years in software engineering and 10+ years specializing in AI, ML, and Computer Vision. Former Head of AI at ActiveEon, with a Ph.D. focused on Computer Vision and Machine Learning. Expert in scalable AI systems, MLOps, distributed computing, and fine-tuning of large language and vision models. Passionate about building practical, production-ready AI solutions that bridge research and deployment. Open to roles involving AI architecture, applied research, or leadership in AI strategy and innovation.
Former graphic designer turned software developer with 10+ years of professional experience. Most recently, I've been building highly dynamic frontends with React. Prior to that, I was re-writing legacy desktop applications as web based with Vue + Go + Postgres. I'm comfortable working across the stack, and adapting to new (or old!) technologies.
Currently working on a VST plugin in C++, and I have explored a number of other areas over the years. Such as: mobile, games, graphics programming, and embedded systems.
While most of my work has been web focused, I'm open to working in other areas. Check out my website, sectionfourteen.com, for more detailed info.
Remote: optional, open to in-person in the NY area.
Willing to relocate: probably not.
Technologies: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, RSpec, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React, Alpine.js, Git, Tailwind, Stripe/Netsuite/Salesforce & many other APIs
Resume/CV: Full-stack developer with an emphasis on Ruby, freelance and then at charity: water (www.charitywater.org) for nearly a decade. Interested in working with good humans above all else.
Hi! I'm a full-stack developer focused on building production-ready web and mobile products, especially SaaS platforms, internal tools, customer portals, marketplaces, and business process automation.
I work mainly with Django/PostgreSQL on the backend and Flutter or React on the frontend. I can take a project from product definition and technical architecture through implementation, deployment, and maintenance.
I’m especially interested in remote contract or fractional product engineering roles where I can help design, build, and ship practical business software quickly.
Hi, I'm Charles and I have decades of experience with Linux administration, with some cloud and orchestration thrown in for good measure. I am passionate about open source and making people's lives easier. My strengths are clear communication and methodical troubleshooting/analysis. I love learning new things and hope for a job that exposes me to more coding, cloud, orchestration, AI-related development, and nice people.
Well-versed in: Linux, Python, Bash, virtualization, containers, CI/CD, Ansible, git, and more. I am a generalist and love digging deep into new things.
Only open to remote W-2 positions at this time. May consider an on-site job in or around Ann Arbor if the culture is right. Regardless, I'm always happy to talk to anyone about anything so absolutely feel free to reach out for a chat!
Remote: Open to remote or hybrid/in-office in SF Bay Area
Willing to relocate: Open to west coast
Technologies: Full stack web dev for 15+ years in many forms. In recent years I've been focused on game development projects using Babylon/WebGL and working with C++ & Go server-side (MMO servers). Many years of project and product management as well.
I have some cool projects! See my personal site for email and some of those projects:
Coolest released one is probably https://www.idlequest.net/, which is an idle-game web-based version of classic EverQuest, complete with its original 3D graphics in-browser and a real-time MMO server! Had up to 70 players online at the same time a month or two ago.
About to release my biggest project, which is a full reverse engineering and re-implementation of the 2007 MMORPG "Vanguard".
Looking largely for product engineering positions, or project/product management style work. Have done both and enjoy both a lot. Open to contracting or full-time.

I'm a generalist software engineer with most of my experience (14YOE professional) in backend, platform, infra, and DevOps stuff. I'm currently employed and love where I am and what I do, but I intend to relocate to the EU in 2028 and my job (federal contracting) is incompatible with that goal.
I'm very interested in deep learning, formal verification, and compliance automation, but also artificial life, complexity science, robotics, cybernetics (as in Beer), computational social sciences, network science, transit, city planning, etc.
I use Claude Code happily at work, as directed, and seen significant (though not unqualified) productivity gains. I've used it to varying degrees on different personal projects. I'm avoiding it now on personal projects (to retain and build skill). I can work anywhere along that spectrum.
I enjoy learning about what other people are working on, so even if you're not hiring or not interested in hiring _me_, I'd love to connect. I've had some genuinely transformative conversations with people I've met on HN, and I'd love to have more.
10+ years building backend services, data pipelines, and on-chain infrastructure.
Most recently founding engineer at Moar Market (leveraged farming on Aptos, ~$7.5M peak TVL) — owned the full stack: Move contracts, indexers, off-chain liquidation engine, DB design, and infra end-to-end.
Before that, tech lead at Hubble Exchange — built a custom EVM-forked L1 for orderbook perps that scaled to 50,000 TPS and 30M+ transactions, including the matching engine, indexing stack, and an SDK for market makers. Earlier: backend at Zomato (Hyperpure greenfield) and Delhivery (WMS, marketplace integrations with Amazon/Paytm).
Recent side project: Deploy Terminal — an MCP-based trading terminal exposing Hyperliquid execution to LLM agents (Claude Code, openclaw etc.) with non-custodial wallet signing via Privy TEE.
Looking for: senior/lead engineer roles. I'm interested in web3, fintech, quant infra, and agentic solutions. Comfortable owning systems end-to-end; prefer small teams shipping fast over large orgs.
Not necessarily looking for full time employment, if someone just wants to do a trial via part time / fixed duration project, that would be even better for a start. My last 3 full time roles started like that.
20+ years as a designer/developer hybrid. Currently sole designer and developer at current company, shipping a Next.js site averaging 40k monthly visits and a hand-coded admin CMS used daily by the team. Founded Makeable Brand LLC and shipped 5 SaaS products solo. Built and sold a WordPress theme business serving tens of thousands of users. Brand and print foundations from a decade of editorial design, including 1,000+ book covers and covers for a NYT bestselling author. AI-assisted workflows with Claude Code/Codex as a core part of how I ship.
Looking for design engineer, founding designer, or senior product roles where I can own a surface end-to-end across design and code.

I'm a Senior DevOps engineer, Cloud Architect and Infrastructure Engineer.
I provide contract or ad-hoc services and support to startups, growth companies and enterprises. I'm often called to set up greenfield DevOps installations, architect and build cloud infrastructures, design platform architectures, build cloud-based, SaaS and mobile products and assist with emergency or short-staffed situations.
I also provide fixed-price services which are often ideal for startups: Azure / AWS cloud builds; DevOps greenfield setup; security / DevOps reviews; alerting / monitoring builds; training; support; emergency services.
Some examples of my work:
* Greenfield Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud implementation for a FinTech company
* Ethereum L1 packer-based automation; Solana smart contracts
* Global multi-cloud PaaS cloud & DevOps design for a major data platform
* Architecture & development for custom clouds
* Solr / Lucene search solutions
* AWS / Azure startup cloud builds
* NodeJS / React mobile app development
My focus has been on browser automation and building browser agents since 2018, with 13 years of enterprise experience building dynamic data user interfaces for web and mobile. I have experience working at both medium 130 person AI companies and small, fast-moving 7 person teams wearing many different hats, which I prefer. I have been instrumental in taking multiple companies from 0 to 1, both as a consultant and as a full-time employee in media, real estate, marketing, streaming services, education, and fintech.
Expert backend developer primarily focused on data engineering, mission critical/low latency/highly available systems, and AWS (certs: https://www.credly.com/users/jon-north.ad78f0c8). Happy to deal with greenfield or legacy or any mix of the two. I learn new things extremely quickly.
I prefer long term contract work, though I’ll help you with smaller things as well. W2 employment is a possibility if the fit is right. Whatever you’re doing with AI is also fine by me, and I’ll lead/adapt as appropriate.

Open source maintainer/top contributor of AnkiDroid: Android client for Anki. 10M+ downloads.
~10 YOE, with 6 YOE open source (4,000+ commits). Ready for stability after years of contracting and maintainership.
I lead a global volunteer team and take full product ownership: setting direction over multi-year horizons, planning and implementing architectural migrations, and keeping a project moving via community engagement, triage, fixes, reviews and mentorship.
Highlights:
- AnkiDroid now releases in tandem with upstream, rather than lagging behind by years
- Migrated a 15-year-old codebase from Java 7 to Kotlin, maintaining git blame
- Migrated to a common Rust-based backend. Android contributors are fully isolated from this complexity
- Improved app rating from 4.5 to ~4.8 stars, dramatically reduced crash rate
- Mentored hundreds of contributors and co-launched AnkiDroid's Google Summer of Code programme
AnkiDroid continues as a hobby; my day job is fully separate.

Graphic designer with experience in both frontend and backend web development (PHP; Wordpress, Framer, some Joomla and some Typo3), iconography, editorial design/typesetting with ConTeXt, general graphic design and webmaster duties. Please feel free to check my portfolio for some examples of my work.
Senior software engineer, 20+ years on production systems. Working on neural nets since 1996 (neuroevolution, genetic programming) — multiple AI cycles' worth of perspective on what survives the hype.
Currently building a regulatory forecasting system for Polish law: ingesting statutes back to 1944, building a graph of legislation and amendments, reasoning about where the regulatory surface is moving. The hard problems are PDF → structured graph at scale and reasoning under uncertainty, not the model wrapper.
I also write about where AI coding agents actually work and where they quietly fail.
Best fit when the work is engineering-shaped — application/data rather than infra/SRE/Kubernetes-heavy — and the schedule overlaps EU hours.
Comfortable as autonomous IC or small-team tech lead. Domains where messy real-world data meets non-trivial reasoning are where I'm sharpest — regulatory, legal, scientific, financial.
I'm a senior software engineer with 14 years of experience; I worked with small teams and enterprises, and I successfully contributed to the success of many products, Hire me if you want to onboard a passionate, team player, used to wear many hats, colleague.
15 years backend. Ex-Automattic on Jetpack Backup, ex-Media Cloud (Harvard/MIT, ICWSM 2021 co-author). PGConf SV 2018 and APAC 2019 talks on Postgres at scale. Currently running https://aero.zip + https://www.lobsterpack.com in parallel and vibecoding like crazy.
Grug-brain engineer (https://grugbrain.dev) and recovering purist. I'd rather push the needle in the wrong direction fast and correct course than design the perfect thing for six months. AI embracer - I treat it as an exoskeleton, not a replacement.
Not a big fan of: calculator apps on Kubernetes, six-round interview pipelines, unpaid take-homes longer than 2 hours.
I'm a high-agency, high-energy, eclectic, serious, fun, creative techie who's done lots of things at BigCos and startups. My happy place is working hard with smart people on something big and complex that makes the world better.
After several years in the consulting/contracting game, I am looking for an ambitious team to join. Maybe yours!
A few of my spinning plates right now: Golang inference worker, two Expo apps in TS/RN, Python data pipeline, AWS IoT for HVAC-adjacent devices, shared FFI components in Rust, and a HealthTech web app in TS/React.
Interested? Drop me a line, and if you're in the Bay Area let's grab a beverage!

Looking to transition off of front-end work & into devops. I can help monitor systems from Asian time zones. Flexible hours help & I don’t mind being up at “odd hours” as I am a night owl.
13 years in software, last 5+ on backend. Just wrapped 2 years at FuelMe (fuel management SaaS): Senior Backend Dev, then Tech Lead from Aug 2025. Built procurement and invoice-auditing workflows on Node, Postgres, AWS. Wrote OpenEnvoy and QuickBooks integrations.
Before that: Cinnamon (fantasy sports, Revaire), DistantJob (multi-client backend), and 7 years self-employed building mobile games. One title passed 10M downloads.
Shipping production code with AI tooling daily for over a year. GitHub Copilot throughout, Claude Code for the last 7 months. Three open-source MCP servers on npm: postgres-scout-mcp, mongo-scout-mcp, kontra-mcp.
Open to: full-time remote (Europe, US, Canada), B2B via Lukic Engineering DOO (Serbia, EUR or USD), or shorter projects.
I love programming and computers. I've done Linux system administration and software development (both independent and as an employee) but also academic research and consulting. After a couple years researching schizophrenia and depression I'm ready for the next chapter.

Looking for: part-time contract, ~20-28 hrs/week, available now and continuing through the upcoming PhD (formal verification + quantum computing).
About: I am a Generative AI Engineer who also happens to be pretty handy across the full stack. Most of my recent work has been building RAG pipelines, AI agents, and natural language search — using LangChain, LangGraph, and vector databases like Pinecone and ChromaDB — with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs under the hood. I care deeply about shipping GenAI features that hold up beyond the demo stage.
Beyond GenAI, I am working on the full stack — React/TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js or ASP.NET Core APIs on the backend, and AWS/Azure for infra. I like owning things end-to-end and building software that's simple and reliable.

Hi, I'm Michael Geary. I've programmed in many languages and environments over the years. Some of my current interests are:
• Developer experience. I love helping my fellow developers solve problems, and building tools to make their jobs easier and more enjoyable.
• Aviation and geographic data. For example, airspace and obstacle data importers for Wing; election results and voter information maps for Google; many interactive maps for other companies.
• Hardware interfacing. In a way, I am a "full stack" developer, but my stack may involve a front end to a piece of hardware rather than the cloud. I first got into programming via ham radio, so RF hardware remains an interest.
• Designing and building APIs. Too often an API is designed by exposing the internals of whatever system provides the API. My philosophy is the opposite: start with the apps. I like to build a series of sample apps before starting on the API. This way I can imagine what API will make those apps and others like them easy to build.
• Talk with users! I don't like to sit in a back room cranking out code. I want to make sure it's the right code for what my users need, and that it's easy to maintain and improve as we learn more about what they want.
I am a Lead Systems Architect with 12 years of experience specializing in high-throughput distributed systems and kernel-level performance.
Recent Achievement: Author of the "Crate of the Week" in This Week in Rust (#645) for my tool 'tsastat'—a high-resolution Linux thread state analyzer.
What I do:
* Scale Kafka/NiFi ingestion pipelines to handle millions of daily events.
* Engineer zero-cost Linux observability tools and eBPF network filters in Rust.
* Optimize P99 tail-latency in Python/Go microservices.
* Architect 0-to-1 data platforms for SDN, Cloud and FinTech.
I am a free agent looking for Lead/Staff roles or high-stakes consulting missions where technical excellence is a requirement.
My primary experience is subscription ecommerce (starting in tech support and moving into fullstack engineering) and fincom. I'm always happy to learn new tech, but I've mostly done Python and JS/TS in the past few years.
Senior iOS engineer / consultant (12+ years). I build and fix iOS and Vision Pro apps from medical devices and high-traffic consumer apps to vibecoded startups struggling to pass App Store reviews.

20 years engineering total, last 5 dedicated to platform/cloud at a regulated bank, leading the replatform of a contractor-built AWS multi-account into FFIEC/GLBA-compliant standards-based architecture. Stood up federated HashiCorp orchestration (Vault Enterprise, Nomad, Consul), GitLab Enterprise from inception, LGTM/OpenTelemetry observability instrumenting Java/Spring Boot services, and developer tooling distributed via a private Homebrew tap.
Most interested in observability platforms, data infrastructure, and AI engineering broadly — anywhere AI is sharpening human judgment rather than displacing it. Currently building out infrastructure tooling in Go using agentic workflows (Claude Code).
Works across the stack — each layer has its own problems worth solving. Publishes on engineering decision frameworks and AI-augmented development workflows.
Pursuing CKA. Not interested in defense, crypto, or gambling.

I am a Full-Stack Engineer focused on building high-performance, security-first systems engineered for longevity. My recent builds consistently achieve a 100 Performance score on Google PageSpeed Insights. Every project I deliver will have 89+ on all pagespeed metrics, no matter what. This does not sacrifice quality, however.
I specialize in end-to-end infrastructure (Website + Dashboard + Backend). I also offer security audits, and bumping your pagespeed scores without sacrificing quality. I offer complex Shopify logic too. I prioritize a "No-Call" workflow. I provide a written plan of action and deliver the code, allowing you to focus on your business without meeting fatigue.
You can contact me via my e-mail, or direcly via my portfolio, whichever method you prefer. More info is in my portfolio.
I'm looking for monthly/yearly "no-strings" sponsors, not employment, if any individuals, companies (or bitcoin millionaires) would like to help a long-time OpenBSD slacker, unslack, I'd really like to focus more of my time on open source development (and advocacy), rather than making rent. Feel free to contact me (see HN bio).
On the topic of bitcoin millionaires... I'm getting some sponsorship for my FreeBSD release engineering work from https://opensats.org/ . Have you asked them?

Past commercial work: scaled an e-commerce operation from $20K/mo to $140K/mo (7x) over 2 years through hand-coded HTML and SEO engineering — 700+ product pages under strict eBay platform constraints (no external CSS/JS allowed), with automated template pipeline reducing launch time 20%.
Background: BS Data Analysis Psychology, UC Davis (2021).
Looking for: contract or full-time remote roles in mobile AI infrastructure, on-device AI memory systems, performance-critical JavaScript/TypeScript, or e-commerce engineering. Open to indie hacker collaborations and Show HN partnerships.
Hi, I am Jojo Feng, a software engineer with 5 years of professional experience crafting mobile experiences. I started building mobile apps when I was in junior high, it was 2013, back when the Windows Phone was still a thing. I was appealed to the design system of Windows Phone (also because I was not able to afford a MacBook) so I learned C# and XAML after school and started build apps for it. Seeing positive reviews of my apps from users and how they provided values for them motivated me to pursue a career as a mobile engineer, and to this day, I'm still trying my best to bring the best mobile experience to those in need.
Full-stack JavaScript-focused engineer/entrepreneur with lots of experience in building scalable single page apps in different frameworks, web3, multiplayer web games, building transformers and other networks, all sorts of things. Product-oriented, executive and leadership experience, comfortable in both autonomous and collaborative settings, capable Linux sysadmin. I know how to ship, end to end.
I've focused for several years now on agentic and generative work such as simulating networked LLM-augmented embodied agents, interface research, too much to list here but always happy to talk more over email. While the rest of the industry is just starting to latch onto agentic systems, I can offer years of experience, product insight and leadership.
Available for consulting, startups, projects, anything web or agentic.
I've been using Go as my primary language for the last nine years, although I don't overly care about the specific language and have experience with a wide variety of tools and languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP, C, JavaScript, Lua, and probably some more. While I've mainly focused on backend in the last few years, I also have written plenty of frontend code over the years, from the "pre-jQuery" days to VueJS.
In the last few years I mainly focused on GoatCounter (https://www.goatcounter.com) with the occasional contract job, but I'm keen to start working on something new for the longer term.
I've got quite a bit of code on my GitHub, so you can take a look at that if you want: https://github.com/arp242

Hello Hacker News! I'm a CompSci PhD (AI Multi-Agent systems... doing Agents' research back in 2004, before they were cool haha) and a passionate technologist with a warm spot for building high-impact products and teams.
For over 20 years, I've loved being a hands-on leader in FinTech, building everything from scalable crypto trading desks and AI/ML systems for fraud detection, to migrating entire platforms from monoliths to robust, cloud-native microservices. I thrive on aligning engineering with business goals and tackling complex distributed systems challenges.
Zero-to-One Success: Built foundational tech/AI/ML at a Fintech, enabling the company's Series A. Executive & Scaling Experience: CTO of a crypto trading desk; Head of Engineering, Product or AI/ML at high-growth FinTechs.
I'm actively looking for a remote role, or for an absolute amazing opportunity, I would relocate. I am most comfortable as first/founding engineer, also have been head-of-tec/cto building startup's technology teams. Right now I am most interested in doing AI/LLM work, like really pushing the status quo of both the Engineering and AI/ML. (I would love to get into something like SSI).
A couple of interesting personal projects I'm working on now:
* I trained a couple of Transformers+MoE models to forecast the price of a REIT-like time series in Mexico (called FIBRA in Mexico): They observe heavy cyclical behaviours every quarter that can be isolated and used as information for forecasting. Good results, albeit not 'life changing' yet.
* I'm working on a "live weight adjustment" or "live training" framework for Transformers/MoE models to be able to use new information to modify the weights of the network slightly, without having to re-train the whole model. Kind of like LoRA/QLoRA, but making something usable for a live-running model.
* I am also experimenting with non-chat uses of text/token LLMs. LLMs are text generation machines, which leaving them "running" independently would be akin to our (people's) train of thought that starts since we are born. Having an LLM do that and finding ways give it "perceptors" for inputs (like IRQs in computers) for environment communication could yield interesting results.
I'm looking to do something interesting with good people. I'm thinking something pretty niche that's a real product and not some AI-based deal. Not that I have anything against AI, I kind of just don't want to chase the fad, you know.
The last thing place like that where I worked, iCare (formerly Centervue) makes fundus cameras for eye exams, and it was a really productive environment.
I don't need to chase a really high salary; I'm looking for something fun, challenging and meaningful.
HN isn't likely the place to look for it but I'm also kind of interested in something around housing policy or otherwise branching out from software. I've immensely enjoyed my volunteer work with a local YIMBY group (well, ok, I founded the group).
Software engineer with 8+ years of professional experience, focused on open-source developer tooling & build systems. 5 years at JetBrains. Ideally, I'd like my next job to be in Rust.
I do full-stack product design + development in one. In an agentic era, you don't need huge teams. If you have an idea, an LLM will vibe it most of the way, but won't think through real, human UX—I do. When you want to go all the way, hire me. https://inventbuild.studio
Technologies: A lot, but mostly focused around Rust, React/TypeScript, and macOS/Linux. I work mostly in frontend, desktop and compute, but have also done a bit of backend. I can pick up almost any tool or framework. I technically know Python.
Looking for a role in a small company or startup with great engineering culture.

Up to anything, be it backend, frontend, blockchain, compilers, DevOps, embedded or mobile. Bonus point if there is a little bit of Rust involved.
If you are curious my greatest project is WTX, a fast WebSocket framework and Database client that gave me a lot of insights about performance and code architecture. See https://github.com/c410-f3r/wtx.
For more information, take a look at my CV (https://c410-f3r.github.io/curriculum.pdf).
Currently employed but looking to build relationships with teams that value craftsmanship and velocity to grow my skills faster. I'm offering competitive rates ($60-90/hr) prioritizing team culture and interesting problems over maximizing income.
What I bring:
- Taste for type safety
- Pragmatic mindset (planning my solutions for regular delivery and avoid delay or drift)
- Dev tooling expertise (recently: custom Babel AST analyzers for faster debugging)
- Proactive problem-solver who likes to improve processes
Ideal projects:
- Teams with strong engineering culture who build ambitious things cleanly and fast
- Greenfield development or systematic refactoring
- Bonus: Highly formal/industrial model-driven environments and FP/Logic Programming environments (Clojure, Haskell, Prolog)
I've also recently deployed Electric Minds Reborn[0], a revival of a 1990's era virtual community using original data and a new software system written in Go, the Amsterdam Web Communities System[1]. Just to expand my horizons.

Happy to be the person your team pings when something is broken and nobody knows why.
Looking for 1–2 additional clients who need a reliable, senior-level contractor to own a slice of their backend or infrastructure. I invoice through a registered EU company in EUR or USD.

Hi! I'm Graham, a creative technologist, former YC W23 founder, engineer and designer. Especially interested in engineer roles where I can wear multiple hats and creative technologist roles. Need a technical person who knows how to build things zero to one, has strong backgrounds in both tech and art, and soft skills like marketing and communication? I'm your person!

Recently:
• Built and deployed a production RAG system (Python, FastAPI, React, Qdrant), including hybrid retrieval, ingestion, and backend APIs with improved retrieval quality and system stability as dataset scaled (ranking fixes, logging, debugging workflows)
Previously:
• 10+ years building and owning backend, data, and operational systems (ERP, BI, internal tools)
• Strong experience with messy data, integrations, and production debugging
• Delivered full systems end-to-end, including APIs, data pipelines, and internal tools
• Led technical delivery across cross-functional teams in complex corporate environments
Best fit: Backend or AI engineering roles where you need someone to quickly build, debug, or stabilize systems through API design & integrations, data pipelines, or LLM-powered features.

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

Willing to relocate: no
Technologies: Linux, Open Source, Python, Storage, Git, CI/CD, Ansible, Virtualization (and now getting into self-hosted AI)

Email: charles.hnjorb2605@bityard.net
Hi, I'm Brynn!
Location: SF Bay Area, California
Remote: Open to remote or hybrid/in-office in SF Bay Area
Willing to relocate: Open to west coast
Technologies: Full stack web dev for 15+ years in many forms. In recent years I've been focused on game development projects using Babylon/WebGL and working with C++ & Go server-side (MMO servers). Many years of project and product management as well.
I have some cool projects! See my personal site for email and some of those projects:
https://brynnbateman.com/
Coolest released one is probably https://www.idlequest.net/, which is an idle-game web-based version of classic EverQuest, complete with its original 3D graphics in-browser and a real-time MMO server! Had up to 70 players online at the same time a month or two ago.
About to release my biggest project, which is a full reverse engineering and re-implementation of the 2007 MMORPG "Vanguard".
Looking largely for product engineering positions, or project/product management style work. Have done both and enjoy both a lot. Open to contracting or full-time.
Email/LinkedIn/GitHub is on my website!

In The Loop (intheloop.engineering) | Senior Consulting Engineers | Remote (US time zones)
We’re a small group of senior engineers who help non‑technical AI founders take fragile MVPs to production‑ready systems. We come in as fractional founding engineers: review code, fix architecture, ship.
Hiring: Senior Consulting Engineers (part‑time/contract)
Looking for experienced engineers who: - Enjoy advising non‑technical founders - Are comfortable reviewing AI‑generated code (Next.js, TypeScript, Python, major cloud providers) - Have shipped production systems end‑to‑end and can explain technical trade‑offs to non‑engineers - Have actually used AI tools in their own side projects or daily workflow - Can handle a mix of architecture reviews, roadmap planning, and hands‑on implementation
Details: - Part‑time/contract to start (typical 5–20 hours/week, flexible) - Fully remote with meaningful overlap with US daytime - Work directly with early‑stage AI founders on short, high‑leverage projects
Compensation: market‑rate contracting, typically 100–200/hr depending on experience and scope Apply: Email humans@intheloop.engineering with “HN – Human” in the subject, and a brief note on your background, availability (hours/week), and the kind of work you enjoy most.

Open to full time or contract.
I look forward to talking with you!

Independent systems developer, 27.
Filed US Provisional Patent #63/942,399 in December 2025 covering an offline memory lifecycle management system for mobile AI. Reference implementation on Android (M3mo Vault): FTS4 + TF-IDF hybrid search at 0.78 microseconds/memory on 10K-entry scale, 7-factor decay algorithm validated via ablation study (12x weight differentiation vs 2x baseline), 7-layer ServiceLocator DI replacing Hilt.
Also building Entropix Engine — a zero-GC browser game engine in vanilla JavaScript sustaining 3,000+ entities at 60 TPS. Structure-of-Arrays memory layout, GridHash spatial partitioning, deterministic fixed-timestep loop, featuring an adaptive grid-sampling fix resolving buffer overflow on high-refresh-rate displays. Live prototype on https://retroindex.org. 60 days into development, 13 milestones shipped. Weekly devlog on r/gamedev.

Compensation Expectation: $140k and $170k USD gross yearly
Location: Bend, Oregon

Willing to relocate: very unlikely unless it's super amazing
Technologies: a lot, over the years, including Erlang, Ruby on Rails, C, Postgres, Tcl, Python, Java, PHP
LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwelton/

I do full-stack product design + development in one. In an agentic era, you don't need huge teams. If you have an idea, an LLM will vibe it most of the way, but won't think through real, human UX—I do. When you want to go all the way, hire me. https://inventbuild.studio
